Rollerskiathon & Rollerski Awareness Day

June 1, 2022

Route: Moose Loop | Start/Finish at Alaska Pacific University

Time:
 Start at 9:00am

June 1st is Rollerski Awareness Day for the City of Anchorage. Donate today to help support APU Nordic Ski Center and our skiers by promoting safety about rollerskiing in our community! Rollerskiing is an important part of our training during the summer and fall months. Many drivers aren’t aware that they share the roads with our skiers and being seen by on the roads is imperative for the safety of our athletes. To heighten awareness about our athletes in training to the community, we have launched Rollerski Awareness Day on June 1st supported by the City of Anchorage!

To commemorate the day, APU Nordic Ski Center will be participating in the 50 Kilometer Rollerskiathon around the Moose Loop in Anchorage. Our skiers will be fundraising for the cause and for general support for our ski center. This day is our annual fundraiser for the ski center, and every dollar will help our skiers achieve their goal to heighten the message of safety in our community while supporting their training for the upcoming ski season!  We thank you for your support and look forward to the Rollerskiathon on June 1st.

Rolkerski Awareness Day is for APU Nordic Elite Athletes to help bring awareness about rollerskiing and promote safety on the trails and roads of Anchorage in living an active and healthy lifestyle.

It’s a day to remind drivers to watch out and drive safely while around roller skiers. Many cross-country skiers in Alaska enjoy rollerskiing and are out on the roads that we share with drivers.

Trail awareness and visibility is equally as important. Each skier will be wearing proper safety gear, high visibility clothing, helmets and other gear to showcase recommended protection in staying safe. Recommendations on rollerski safety rules and tips can be found here »

Be Safe, Be Seen

APU Nordic Ski Center will be bringing awareness about “Be Safe Be Seen” in our community. “Be Safe Be Seen” is a program developed by Colaska to bring awareness about being seen on the trails and roads to prevent accidents and injury.

We invite the community to come out and cheer on our athletes. If you see an APU Nordic Elite Member on the trail on June 1st, post a photo on Facebook or Instagram and tag APU Nordic Ski Center. Your photo could be picked as the lucky winner of an APU Nordic Ski Center Buff or High Visibility blink lights!

We need your help to raise enough support for our program members to reach their goal. Support the team with your donation now to help the team rollerski the 50 Kilometer Moose Loop and achieve their goal as a team!

Thank You To Our Sponsors!
