APU Nordic Ski Center Response to COVID-19

As families, communities and businesses work to limit the spread of COVID-19, APU Nordic Ski Center is taking action with you. The safety of our athletes and staff is our top priority at all times, and our core is based around health and wellness.

APUNSC is committed to facilitating a safe training environment for athletes of all ages during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are currently holding in-person sessions outdoors for all groups with adjustment to COVID-19. We comply with all local, state and federal guidelines and mandates. Skiers and athletes are required to wear a face covering at all times and are encouraged to practice safe physical and social distancing from others.

We are implementing the Municipality of Anchorage guidelines and mandates in regards to our group sizes, plans and procedures. That information can be found here.

Should we not be able to meet in-person safely, we will maintain regular communication and use Zoom meetings, video tutorials, and online training plans to keep our athletes active.

We have open registration for interested parties until the groups are full. If you have any questions about our programs, please email nordic@alaskapacific.edu or one of our coaches or visit our program registration website here.

Many families who are quarantined together and who are involved in our various programs have taken advantage of the time to ski, train and run together. Our coaches have been working with families and athletes who have chosen to maintain specific social distancing and quarantine measures.

We are encouraging regular exercise, good hydration, proper nutrition, and ample sleep to uphold a strong immune system. Anchorage has great weather and snow with many options for health enhancing activities. Physical exercise and sun is one of the better ways to keep our bodies healthy and mental state of mind intact.

We are learning new things about COVID-19 everyday. We strongly urge that you take the CDC recommendations of social distancing and practice the 6ft distance when training outside. CDC’s recommendations for being around others after contracting COVID-19 or having had symptoms or direct exposures can be found here. If you have any questions about updates, we recommend looking at the CDC website here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. For Municipality of Anchorage Updates and emergency information, please visit here: http://www.muni.org/covid-19/Pages/default.aspx

We thank you for your patience and understanding for program adjustments during COVID-19.
