APU Nordic Ski Center Response to COVID-19

As families, communities and businesses work to limit the spread of COVID-19, APU Nordic Ski Center is taking action with you. The safety of our athletes and staff is our top priority at all times, and our core is based around health and wellness.

We have elected to extend the suspension of in-person training sessions until further notice. Our coaches have been reaching out to and working with their respective groups with recommendations on ways our athletes can keep moving forward with training individually or with people they have chosen to quarantine with.

We are continuing the 2020/2021 program start on April 27th as scheduled. We plan to do so with adjustment to COVID-19 and with our continuation of online coaching methods. Registration will be open from April 13th through the start of the program.

Many families who are quarantined together and involved in our various programs have taken advantage of the time to ski, train and run together. A small group of elite team members live in the Ski House at Alaska Pacific University and have the fortunate ability to continue training together as a group, supporting quarantining measures.

We are encouraging regular exercise, good hydration, proper nutrition, and ample sleep to uphold a strong immune system. Make the most of your current situation and get outside to ski, walk, run, skate in the fresh air and sunshine. We have great weather and snow with many options for health enhancing activities. Physical exercise and sun is one of the better ways to keep our bodies healthy and mental state of mind intact.

We are learning new things about COVID-19 everyday. We strongly urge that you take the CDC recommendations of social distancing and practice the 20ft distance when training outside. If you have any questions about updates, we recommend looking at the CDC website here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. For Municipality of Anchorage Updates and emergency information, please visit here: http://www.muni.org/covid-19/Pages/default.aspx

Our ultimate goal is for us to have a healthy return to normal activities. We thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation.
